A Story of Malaria Elimination

Once upon a time, a disease called malaria killed millions of people in Africa every year, and there was very little people could do to stop it. Then things changed: not long ago, leaders around the world decided it was time to stand up to malaria. And it worked! A lot of lives were saved because of all their hard work. And then what seemed impossible-- eliminating malaria in Africa-- became possible. What will it take to make malaria history? Ramping up access to lifesaving tools in places still hard-hit by the disease. And where the malaria parasite is on the run, stopping transmission altogether by: strengthening surveillance systems, finding and treating every last person infected with malaria, pursuing the best new ideas to create and grow malaria-free communities. It will also take gathering evidence on what works-- and inspiring world leaders to provide the funding and political support needed to get the job done. Together, we can create a world free from malaria. Join us to help make sure this story has a happy ending: www.makingmalariahistory.org. The end (of malaria)
