In Zanzibar, a push toward elimination is underway

Zanzibar is making strides toward its goal of eliminating malaria by 2016. To reach this goal, health officials have stressed the importance of behavior change communication (BCC) and information, education, and communication (IEC) activities to help people understand the importance of malaria interventions—such as indoor residual spraying and insecticide-treated bednets—and, thus, have reached out to the media to help raise awareness in the community so the final push can be made.
